FAQ: The Ultimate Guide to Bath Towels
At first thought, bath towels might seem relatively simple and uncomplicated. After all, most people just head on over to the typical big-box store and randomly buy the first towel that catches their eye. However, many people find that these towels aren’t very absorbent, aren’t very soft, give off a musty smell, and take forever to dry after using. A lot of these towels either end up sitting unused in the linen closet or in the trashcan! If you’re sick of this cycle, then you’ve come to the right place. The Miracle Brand has a better way to buy towels -- online! Buying towels online gives you more selection and information than you get in the store. And that’s why we’re here with this guide to answer all the questions you’ve ever had about bath towels and the ones you’ve never even considered.
There are three different sizes available for towels: washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels. Wash cloths are great to use inside the shower for washing your body or face. They can also be used to wash your face outside the shower as well. Washcloths are the smallest type of towel, measuring 13 inches on each side for a perfect square shape. Hand towels are used for -- you guessed it -- drying your hands at the sink after you wash them. They are bigger and more absorbent than washcloths and measure 20 inches by 30 inches. Finally, there’s the traditional bath towel. These towels are big enough to dry off the entire body after bathing! Bath towels measure 30 inches by 56 inches so that you have more than enough fabric to dry off and cover up after a nice shower. All three of these types of towels are essential for any bathroom and linen closet. That’s why we recommend buying the Miracle Towel Set that includes everything you need: two washcloths, two hand towels, and two bath towels!
The best material for bath towels is definitely cotton. Cotton is soft yet absorbent -- making it ideal for bath towels that are used to dry the body after bathing. Miracle Brand makes its towels using the world’s most famous long staple Indian cotton that’s been used in textiles for centuries. However, quality material doesn’t mean much if it also isn’t well-manufactured. This is why the Miracle Brand manufactures all its towels in specialized Turkish factories in order to produce soft, quality, and long-lasting products that come equipped with a five-year quality guarantee.
Incorporating silver fibers into your linens like bath towels and washcloths effectively eliminates 99.9% of bacteria that can easily grow within the fibers. This is because silver ions possess a positive charge that draw in bacteria like a magnet and prevents the existing bacteria from growing and reproducing before it even has a chance to do so! You may think that incorporating silver fibers into towels would make them less soft and comfortable -- but that’s not true at all. Miracle Towels include a small percentage of natural silver woven in with the fibers that doesn’t affect the softness or absorbency of the towels whatsoever. You’d be surprised on what just a small percentage of silver can do! Not only does it help prevent bacteria growth, but it can also prevent nasty odors. This means that you can do three times less laundry than you would do with regular towels without this technology.
Towels can easily become a breeding ground for bacteria and microorganisms that tend to stick around on your towel in the damp environment of your bathroom. While this might not seem like a big deal, bacteria on your towels can potentially cause infections or at the very least, skin irritation like acne and blemishes on places like your back, chest, and face. This is why it’s important to wash your towel frequently. However, if you don’t want to be doing laundry constantly, it’s generally safe for you to use a regular towel two to three times before replacing it with a fresh one. When it comes to Miracle Towels, on the other hand, the silver-infused technology prevents 99.9% of bacteria growth through a natural process called ionization. This means that Miracle Towels can be washed three times less frequently than normal towels that aren’t made with silver technology! So you can safely use a single towel for a whole week (six to seven uses) before having to wash it without having to worry about nasty odors or harmful bacteria. We recommend that you let your towel dry completely between uses and make sure that it is totally dry when you finally place it into the hamper after using it several times. Thankfully, Miracle Towels are fast-drying and dry in half the time of a regular towel so you can save tons of time in both washing and drying!
We recommend separating your towels and washing them together -- provided they are all similar colors and won’t cause any color bleeding or transfer during the washing process. Once you have everything sorted, you can throw them in the washing machine using cold water and a mild, liquid detergent. Do not use fabric softener or powdered detergent. Once the washing cycle is finished, tumble dry your towels on low heat and remove them as soon as they’re finished drying. If there are any wrinkles, you can use a warm iron to remove them. If there are any loose threads after laundering, gently remove with scissors instead of pulling them out. You can avoid this by washing your towels altogether and avoiding things with zippers, hooks, and other things that can get caught and pull the towel fibers. In order to preserve the color and quality of your bath towels, avoid using them with beauty and skincare ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, alpha hydroxy acids, and chlorine bleach.
Unless you’re familiar with Marie Kondo and her magical folding methods, you might not know how to easily fold bath towels. There’s no one single method that’s correct, and it really comes down to preference. That being said, here are a couple of folding methods you can try out and pick your favorite one so that you can achieve an organized and aesthetically-pleasing linen closet:
- Tri-Fold
- Lay the towel out on a flat surface with the tag side facing up.
- Fold a corner of the towel about two-thirds of the way across the short end of the towel.
- Smooth down the fold with your hands so that everything is even.
- Fold the other side of the towel over the first third. Smooth everything down into a long and skinny shape.
- Fold the towel in half, and then in half again.
- Store the towel with the folded edge facing outward.
- Narrow Fold
- Lay the towel out on a flat surface.
- Fold the towel in half along it’s long length.
- Fold the towel in half again on the opposite side.
- Fold the side with the hemmed corner edges about one third of the way across the towel.
- Fold the other half over so that it’s equal with the folded edge on the other side.
- Store the towel with the folded edge facing outward.
- Deep Fold
- Lay the towel out on a flat surface.
- Fold one edge of the towel on the long edge to the halfway mark on the short edge.
- Repeat on the other side so that the two long edges meet in the middle.
- Fold the towel in half from the long edge so that the towel layers are sitting on top of one another.
- Fold both ends of the towel towards the center while leaving a small gap of about a few inches.
- Fold in half again from the gap.
- Store the towel with the folded edge facing outward.
- Rolling
- Lay the towel out on a flat surface.
- Tri-fold the towel from the long side.
- Fold the towel in half.
- Starting with the folded end of the towel, slowly roll the towel into a tube shape. Secure with a tie or ribbon if needed.
- This aesthetically-pleasing folding method is often used by spas and hotels and is ideal for open storage.
Depending on the quality and care of your bath towel, most have a lifespan of about two to three years before they no longer work properly and need to be replaced. However, the Miracle Brand offers a five-year quality guarantee on all their products! Since the natural silver in these towels helps to stem bacteria growth and odor, Miracle Towels will last substantially longer than regular towels without this technology. Testing has showed that they remain effective even after 100 wash cycles!
