Full Size Bed Vs Queen Size Bed

6 min read

If you ask someone where their favorite place to snuggle up and be cozy is, we’d bet most people would say their bed.

For many people, their bed is like a sanctuary to them. This might sound dramatic, but it’s true! A bed can be a space that makes you feel safe, cozy, and relaxed. When you have the right bedding and mattress paired together, you’ll probably never want to get out of bed. And for those who are working from home, your bed might just be your new office space at times!

Generally, there are different ages and stages of life for different mattress sizes. When you are a kid, most people have a twin size bed in their room. It’s the perfect size for a little kid and doesn’t take up too much space. As you age through your teen years into adulthood, you most likely will have a full size or a queen size bed. And finally, if you end up living with your significant other or getting married, you will probably have either a queen size or a king size mattress, depending on the size of your room.

What Size Is a Queen?

A queen is the most common bed size and the most common and popular mattress on the market. More people have queen mattresses than any other size! To differentiate between a queen mattress and a full mattress, it all comes down to the dimensions. A queen size is 60 inches wide and 80 inches long.

This is the standard mattress size, and it should fit in almost any room. Even rooms that are on the smaller side can typically accommodate a mattress with those dimensions. Of course, the best thing you can do is measure the dimensions of your bedroom first. That way, you will know for sure whether or not the queen will fit. And don’t forget to take the bed frame size into consideration when you measure your room to see if it will fit.

Pros and Cons

Even though a queen size bed is the most common and popular bed, there are still both pros and cons that you should be aware of when you are thinking of buying a new mattress. A queen size bed is great for couples or people who share the bed with children or pets. There is plenty of space for two bodies. It’s also great if you are just one person who prefers extra space to stretch out. The biggest pros are that it has enough space for two people, and it’s long enough for taller individuals.

One con is that it is more expensive than a full size mattress. Given the fact that it’s bigger, it makes sense that it would also come with a bigger price tag. If you are the only person who will be sleeping in the bed and you are on a budget, you might want to consider buying a full size bed in order to save a couple hundred dollars. Another con is that since a queen size bed is bigger, it is also harder (and heavier) to move.

What Size Is a Full?

If you didn’t already know, a full size bed is slightly smaller than a queen size bed. While a queen size’s dimensions are 60x80, a full size bed’s dimensions are 54 inches wide and 75 inches long. Clearly, this is not a huge difference, but it is enough to make it noticeable for most people. Full size beds are common for individuals or for those with slightly smaller bedrooms.

It’s interesting that most people will move from a twin size mattress to a queen mattress simply because they want more legroom and room to stretch out. Even if they sleep alone, a queen mattress is still preferred more than a full size one. Regarding how long the mattress will last you, you should consider whether or not you anticipate being the only person sleeping in the bed for a long time. It is a tight squeeze to fit two people in a full size bed, and you might have to buy a bigger mattress.

Pros and Cons

Just as with the queen size mattress, there are also pros and cons of having a full size mattress. It’s good to note these pros and cons so that you can make an informed decision when buying a mattress. The biggest pro of getting a full size bed is that it is more affordable than a queen size bed. Typically, a full size mattress will cost you anywhere from $400 to $800. Queen mattresses, on the other hand, will cost you anywhere from $800 to $1500.

For those on a budget (and even if you’re not), that’s a huge price difference. Another pro is that a full size mattress is smaller, lighter, and easier to move. This can be important if you live alone and don’t have help for moving things. However, there are two main cons when it comes to full size beds.

The first is that a full size is rarely big enough for couples to sleep in together. This is the main reason why it is less popular than a queen mattress. The second reason is that it’s not big enough for those who are over six feet tall. In most cases, if you are over six feet, your feet will hang off the bed if you are on a full size mattress.

What Size Bed Is Better?

When it comes time for you to make a decision and buy a new mattress, it really depends on a couple of different factors. No size is better than another, but one size might be better for you and your specific needs. There are plenty of mattresses that claim they are the best, but that can be based on other criteria. It’s easy to make the claim that a bed made from high-quality materials will last longer. But when it comes to size, you can’t definitively say that a full or a queen bed is better.

When choosing a bed size, the first thing you should do is consider the pros and cons, which we explained already. You can look at the mattresses in terms of size, cost, and suitability. Judging it off of these categories will be extremely helpful when making your decision. If you need a bigger bed or you need a bed that will sleep two people comfortably, then a queen size bed is the way to go. If you need something for a smaller space or a less expensive bed, then a full size bed should be just fine for you!

In Conclusion

By now, you know that the difference between a queen bed and a full bed is the size dimensions. A queen bed is larger than a full bed by a few inches of width and length. We discussed the pros and cons of both sizes, which will hopefully be helpful for you if you are buying a new mattress. The reason that most people tend to choose a queen mattress over a full mattress is the size difference.

Both mattress sizes are great for different reasons, and it all really depends on what your individual needs are when choosing one over the other. Make sure you measure your room before buying a mattress, so you are positive it will fit. And after you decide on a mattress size, don’t forget to order some super-soft comforter from Miracle Brand!
